Born in Italy, raised in London • Based between Berlin & Valencia
Born in Italy and raised in London, Luca Desienna is a multidisciplinary artist whose work moves fluidly between literature, photography, and independent publishing. Based between Budapest and Valencia, he explores the intersection of image, emotion, and narrative as both writer and publisher.
In 2004, he founded Gomma Books Ltd., one of Europe’s most respected independent publishing houses, known for its daring editorial vision and devotion to auteur photography. Over two decades, Gomma has become a reference for artistic authenticity and fearless storytelling—values that mirror Desienna’s own creative ethos.
His writing—raw, immersive, and emotionally charged—often blurs the line between inner experience and social commentary. His debut novel, Londra Brucia (Liux Edizioni, 2012), sold out within two years. His second, Cheyenne Bozo, 2059 (Bookabook, 2025), is a speculative literary work set in a dystopian near future, merging human vulnerability with moral rebellion.
Desienna’s visual works have been exhibited internationally and have earned multiple awards, including for his acclaimed photography book My Dearest Javanese Concubine. Trained in acting, screenwriting, and performance in London and Berlin, his background in theatre informs the rhythm and emotional intensity of his prose.
